Addiction

When we come to the end of an addiction, it’s not always because we reach a negative emotional bottom. In some cases it’s because we have been and are thinking about changing. We have a deep-seated desire to promote our own growth, and we can also outgrow specific behaviors. That, combined with a bottom of some kind, could lead to the exact moment when a person is ready to surrender a dependency or addiction that doesn’t serve them.

Meditation Practices

I have to say that I’m never going to be perfect. The good news is that neither will you be. That’s why meditation is termed as a “practice.” We all practice. We practice at the things that we do in our lives that we want or need to get better at. For example, being a parent is a practice.

Who Else Meditates?

When you meditate you are not doing something “new agey” and esoteric. There’s nothing new about it—it’s been around for many thousands of years. And it’s not esoteric; it’s extremely grounded. We use the word “esoteric” incorrectly: The word esoteric should be used to describe our regular modern obsessions and our viewpoint on the accumulation of objects in the passage of time. Our viewpoints are so abstract that they are in fact esoteric.

How Much You Should be Meditating and How Often?

Some benefit tremendously from meditation very early after they begin practicing it. Others don’t catch on as quickly. But it will work for you, regardless of your body makeup and temperament, provided that you consistently work at it at your own pace.

Examples of Lack of Focus

I check in with my body and I think about what I feel right now. Sometimes what I feel right now is a lot of worry. So then I ask myself what’s worrying me, and then I think of what it is. Sometimes the thing that’s worrying me isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes I’m just excited about the next thing that’s going to happen. It may be that I have a meeting at 12 noon and I’m really excited about the discussion.

Confusion in The West

There’s a great deal of confusion among people that I’ve met in the West. I’m sure it’s the same in the East, the North and the South. Specifically, people often blame others for how they react to a situation.

Meditation for Pain Relief

There are natural ways to help alleviate pain but their effectiveness depends on the person and it depends on the degree of pain. It might be too much to ask somebody to meditate when they’re in the thick of pain.

Asking Deep Questions

One hundred years is simply not enough to learn everything that I need to learn, or everything that I would like to learn, because I also have desires. So I look in front of me and I find my teachers. When I was a child my teachers were my parents and they taught me quite a lot. Unfortunately they left out a lot of important lessons; that’s been the case for all of us. I’m now trying to learn more than my parents did and pass it on to my children.

The Purpose of Meditation

I noticed little things. I noticed that five out of 10 people probably don’t really like me. Those five out of 10 hate my face, my tattoos, or both. But I just have to be myself. One day a person who hates me will need me for something. I’ll be there and I will give them my support. And then they may change their point of view about me.

Meditation Exercise

You are in a field. You’re laying on a blanket. You can feel the cold air on your skin, but the sun is still warm enough to keep your body quite comfortable. First, you hear the faint sound of a single engine airplane. Then you listen carefully and can hear the sounds of all the leaves as the wind hits them. A 60-foot tree is particularly noisy. You ask yourself if it’s the wind blowing past the leaves that makes the noise, if it’s the leaves hitting each other gently, or if it’s a combination of both.

Meditation and Crying

What a beautiful life you live if you have the perspective that nothing can make you ungrateful, if nothing that you experience can make you not want to have a consciousness. In such a state, not any form of pain to the body could break your will to remain conscious and present. But you might become tearful and frightened.

The Entire Nature of Everything

Chain reactions of events that happen in society are such that individuals can’t resist temptation and can’t be undistracted. This is quite clear and we shouldn’t be in denial about the situation.

Candle Meditation

One might ask, “What is the point of being so deep and philosophical? Isn’t it better to just be here in the present and take action?” My answer to that is that taking action and sitting in stillness and contemplation have to be kept in balance. We don’t want to overthink, and we don’t want to act without thinking enough. It goes without saying that one of the blessings of being human is the ability to think deeply about things. The ability to contemplate is a beautiful thing.

What is The Purpose of Meditation?

Many may perceive the development that I’m referring to as spiritual development, but I don’t really believe that the word “spiritual” is fitting. Everything that we do is towards spiritual development in some way. So at least to me it goes without saying that people who want to become conscious and wake up their minds need to work through and heal certain wounds.

Breathing Exercise

What I especially like about using a breathing exercise in this way is that you don’t need any accessories; you can do it wherever you are at any time. It’s an exercise you can practice while you’re in an airplane getting ready to take off and you feel frightened. It’s an exercise you can work on when you have an argument with your spouse or your partner and need to regain your center. Or you can use this exercise as your entryway into your meditation practice.

Samādhi: How Dare I Try To Explain This!

The ultimate purpose of meditation is to realize, “I am here.” I view that as the ultimate reality. I am here. I am in this moment. I no longer fight with that truth. I recognize that is the only thing tangible in this moment. Everything else is a concept of philosophy, possibility, partial truths, nonsense, and fantasy.

Sequence Meditation

Then I was able to bring my concentration and focus to the sequence of a yoga practice. Forget about any of the four Indian cultures, forget about Sanskrit, forget about spiritual teachings. Anxiety Is a Psychological Buzzword

The anxieties that we have regarding real threats have to be examined. We then have to come up with solutions for the associated problems in a way that allows us to stay on center. If a person has anxieties about all of the different facets of their life, then they’re going to be in a lot of pain

Meditation for Self Discovery

We will discover things about how we treat other people. We will also gain insights about ways we act and things we do to ourselves that aren’t in our best interests. Such behaviors include procrastination, fear of change, and inappropriate ways of reacting to things that happen to us. Meditation enables us to not only identify the behavior patterns but also to determine courses of action to take to overcome them.

Enjoy Your Diet

Another reason for a potential setback is that we have an attachment to a behavior that we’re doing. That behavior connects us to something that we find important, something in which we find safety and protection. We have to do psychological work to unravel ourselves from any attachments that don’t serve us.

Collection of Great Experiences at Juice Press

The Herringbone marble tile was the signature look of the brand. This store had a catherdral-like refrigerator. When we opened in this store in 2013/14 it was the main production facility for our bottled juices. It was only 1500 sq/ft and it was nearly impossible to manage the volume we were doing in those years. We eventually moved production to a 25,000 sq/ft facility in Long Island City, New York.

A very important aspect of your own weight loss is your living a life of compassion. Compassion, love and other such qualities that are good enrich your chemistry in a way that very few substances can match. When your heart is filled with compassion, that means that your mind is pure. In order to fill your heart with compassion, your mind has to become more conscious and more awake. Compassion sets us free from our own suffering.

Eliminate Processed Foods. Refine Philosophy, Not Foods.

Hey friends, please think about the problems the things that are listed here cause. Processed and refined sugar are problematic. And it’s prevalent in cakes, candies, cookies, muffins, sodas, ice cream, energy drinks, sports drinks, and condiments such as ketchup and relish. Although no one should judge you or what you do with food, you can judge yourself in the context of your desire to improve.

Meditation is Just Another Obsession

A student came to a great master one day and asked, “Master, how many hours a day should I meditate?” And the master said, “How badly do you want to be happy?” The next day, the student came back to the master and said, “Master, I hear that this thing called enlightenment is a myth. I heard that searching for it could lead to the attachment of the search. Am I supposed to believe that enlightenment is real? And if it’s real, is it just going to come on its own just from me being a good person?” The master said, “Student, when you really concentrate on the wrong thing, you lose sight of the fact that we are here in the material body.”

Meditation Finally Realized

Consciousness may sometimes expand very very slowly. But make no mistake, the purpose of life is to become awake and enlightened. You can do this with acts of kindness, you can do this with practices of meditation, and you can do this by becoming aware of nonviolence.

I realized for myself that I had to decide what I believed in. I would stop totally relying on books, teachers, and lectures, and I would start searching within. Among things that really stuck with me were certain Buddhist teachings. The Buddha taught that enlightenment was an attainable thing if conditions were met and circumstances were right.

Meditation's Big Questions

This may seem like a tall order, or a typical thing that a spiritual person might say. But I think any person with a positive attitude would figure this out. And a positive attitude isn’t something that you buy in a store. You just make up your mind one day that whenever possible you’re going to shift your focus away from negative thoughts. From time to time you may have to come back to them to analyze problems, but solve those problems with a positive frame of mind. This is one of the primary purposes of meditation.

Open Letter to the Food Industry

Companies that have a high degree of concern for their ethical practices should rethink deceptive product labeling practices, in addition to ensuring that their products have good nutritional value. But I think that corporate food integrity could well be rewarded by customers’ dollars over time.

My Motivation to Write About Meditation

In my 20s I found meditation intriguing. I went to places that taught very docile yoga. Although I found the people and the movement really uplifting and truthful, I couldn’t stick with it because it didn’t have enough of the brutality that I would come to like. I needed more of an adrenaline rush in those years of my life; I was dependent on that. I needed to boost my identity, and I did not identify with being a Yogi—I identified with being a skydiver.

The Ego

From a philosophical perspective, the mysterious thing about the ego is that it really isn’t a form, or a shape, or an energy. It’s the sum total of all of your traits, something like a photo album; it’s a record of your journey.

The ingredients that go into making up the ego include energy fields and electrical circuitry. The important thing to understand about the ego is not so much what its purpose is or why it forms in the first place. It forms because of all the experiences that we have in this body and the fact that we have consciousness. These are the two main catalysts of the ego: Experiences and consciousness.

Meditation and Consciousness Levels

So the main benefit of tapping into the higher consciousness is to be able to quiet the mind a bit and relax it. In that state of being, I can listen to the higher callings that I have inside. I can organize my thoughts better. I can soothe my own troubles, even if they originated in my mind in this state of consciousness. I’m shifting my focus. I’m trying to find a greater meaning in the things that come free—like a sunset, the love I have for the people I know, and the love that they have for me.

Viewing Meditation as Entertaining

in order to actually develop a meditation practice you might have to trick yourself sometimes. We can become so distracted and so unwilling to practice meditation for a variety of reasons that we have to make it into a game. We have to make sure that we have a prize for meditating, such as relaxation and/or a clear understanding of truth.

Be Carful of the Word Addiction

Be very careful with the word “addiction.” It’s a title, and it can also be a trap. It definitely can be used to describe a problem, but it could also create one.

I am a stickler for using the right words to explain something, especially when I’m explaining something to myself. I prefer the word “dependency” because it’s less scary. We can make progress with helping people with a dependency on alcohol, drugs, or any other destructive substance or behavior. But just the sound of the word “addiction” sounds so negative and offensive that it takes positive energy away from solving the problem.

Meditation and Compassion

I can’t meditate on the universe and its structure because I don’t need that right now at the stage of life I’m in. I need to meditate on compassion. Meditation & Suffering

If we teach each other to find meditation, we can lessen some of the suffering in the world.

There are cycles of suffering. In my meditations I sometimes think of suffering in the physical world. Considering the possibilities of random things and chaos, it may always be difficult for some creatures. Those creatures will push suffering on to other things. Maybe this world can be classified as the realm of pain and suffering (for some).

Why Starting Meditation Is Hard (But Once You’re In It, It’s Wonderful and Easy).

Meditation is logic at work. The concept of it is so simple: Still the mind and end all the noise and static caused by the layers and layers of thoughts for that short time. When I meditate, I can tune in to deeper levels of my innate knowledge. I can tune into something greater than my innate knowledge. Something timeless and without boundaries. I now can grasp ‘it’ and it no longer scares me. I’m no longer bored by it. I am not restless. Whatever power and beauty that is within the depths of our consciousness is free for the taking to anyone who reaches in for it.

The Interest in Processed Foods

Poor eating practices and impure and adulterated food cause incalculable damage to the human race. Those things are a primary factor in deaths caused by a myriad of diseases and are linked to mass starvation. These statements may seem incredibly insensitive and hard to accept, and I don’t take pleasure in writing them. But unfortunately they’re true. Both as individuals and as a society we must change how we produce, process, and consume food products. We ignore the information about our misdeeds regarding these practices at our own peril and the peril of others.

If a nutrient is not available from the plant kingdom, the human body does not need it.

Bad Sugar

There’s a difference, though, when you eat an apple, banana, orange, or plum. The sugar in the food isn’t concentrated, and the food is pure. It contains vitamins, minerals, water, antioxidants and other substances that are vital to the immune system. You can’t live without those compounds. And if you stay away from fruit and starchy vegetables, you’ll also be depriving healthy cells of needed sugar for energy, which they need to perform their various functions.

What are we chasing?

Are we chasing material possessions because we really think that we need them? Probably yes, at least in the moment. Are we chasing bad chemistry in our bodies and trying to make it feel better? Sometimes. Are we chasing cravings that need to be answered? Oftentimes.

Deep deep inside, aren’t we all just chasing the connection to a feeling of wholeness? That feeling was lost when the umbilical cord was cut. And the memory is there. Each and every day that followed, we either kept the connection going or we looked for a distraction.

Focus your attention to the center of your forehead. Imagine a bright light being right there if you can’t see this light

Top 30 Things To Improve Health

#3. Eliminate all processed foods from your diet. Whether you do so gradually at your own pace or go “cold turkey” and do it within a day or so is your decision. Getting the toxic food components and additives out of your system will yield health benefits very quickly.

#14. Apologize often. Almost every day of our lives we have an opportunity to express an apology to someone. It’s an act that shows strength of character and courage on our part and gives us a good reason to respect ourselves.

The Express Train to Enlightenment

The other way to wake up your mind is to meditate, concentrate, and focus on the idea that everything in the material universe is constantly changing. Everything in the material world that is born must die, and everything that is created must come to an end. Focus on that until you see the light.

What makes a person more prepared and ready to practice a faith along these lines with devotion in order to see divine light? The first thing is having to clear away all the wreckage and the problems that prevent you from getting to the state that you are seeking.

Understanding Yoga

In movements during yoga exercises, it’s necessary to stay with all the feelings and sensations in the body, including pain. There are different types of pain in our body. Some of it is directly caused by emotions and is held within us. Feelings get trapped in areas of the body and cause tension. Sometimes daily activities, improper diet, and stimulation cause us to have very narrow breathing. Concentrating on breathing during yoga (as well as other forms of exercise) will improve that situation.

What if I Hate Vegetables More Than Anything Else?

When I was involved with my company (Juice Press) for approximately 10 years, I taught hundreds, if not thousands of people throughout New York City and other major cities to enjoy the delicious taste of fresh cold, pressed organic juice. When you drink juice you get a lot of produce without having to gag on it, and it tastes great, but only if it’s very cold. (If you drank juice from really dark, leafy green vegetables at room temperature you probably wouldn't like it.) That’s the beauty of cold-pressed juice—the cold temperature makes it taste great, like a smoothie. Certain foods taste better at different temperatures; I think pasta only tastes good when it’s warm.

You're a Pig!

So what is the ideal diet for humans? Should we be eating bananas all day like our ape cousins do? Should we be ravenous meat eaters like the big cats? Or are we designed to graze like cattle? None of the above.

We are actually similar to pigs, bears, and piranhas. We are omnivores. However, we have longer digestive transit times than most other animals. That’s why flesh foods are not ideal for us: Flesh foods easily ferment or rot in our digestive system because they stay there too long.

What The Heck Am I Supposed To Eat?

It’s very important that you understand that I do not believe in prescribing a particular diet. There’s no such thing as a “one size fits all” diet; there are a lot of considerations. The general rule is that you probably can afford to eat somewhere between 1820 and 2500 calories per day depending on your activity level, your age, your size, and what particular food items are in your diet. A person who is eating a plant-based diet could probably consume more calories than a person on a high-protein diet. A person who abstained from processed foods could also probably eat more calories.

The Beginning of Your Self Improvement Journey

The discipline of taking care of the tedious tasks of life can be applied to all other aspects of life—this is the nature of self-improvement. I define self-improvement as taking on the difficult tasks that we need to manage by ourselves for ourselves every day of our life until they become habits.

Self-improvement is also a measurement of personal success. Personal success has nothing to do with things such as how much money you’ve acquired, how many books you’ve published, and the like. Personal success is measured by how well a person can improve themselves and address their own specific challenges.

Exercise Should Be Fun, or We Won't Do It

It has always seemed to me that fitness and movement for the enrichment and pleasure of your life and your body was equally as important as being rich in terms of financial wealth.

And this is absolutely true. A person must make sure that during every day of their life they have a certain amount of physical exercise. It’s extremely important—it’s a practice that will serve to balance a person’s entire being.

This should be common knowledge. Many know it to be true; many know that it’s simply the way our bodies are designed. Our bodies don’t function properly if they don’t have physical exercise very regularly, even daily.

The ketogenic diet is not a positive step to good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. It is completely unsustainable for a number of reasons.

For one thing, in both the short- and long-term it could have a negative effect on your overall body chemistry. By following it, you’re creating routines and habits that entail eating much more protein than what is healthy for an adult’s chemistry. It will be very hard to break such habits.

Why I'm Obsessed with Yoga And I Think You Should Be Too

There are three components to a Yoga Asana (essentially a type of controlled posturing). First, it is to control the body. Then, breath can be controlled. From that point, thoughts going through a person’s head can be controlled in such a way that the person can arrive at a single-minded focus.

I can have a single-minded focus. I can direct my attention to the present moment. At that point, in that space, I am able to realize universal truths. Many, many people do this all the time—it’s not really that extraordinary. There are many universal truths that should be realized. They are truths that underlie the nature of reality. And there are a tremendous number of them. Even while we are going about life on a day-to-day basis, we discover universal truths all the time.

What Are Probiotics?

A major factor in digestive health is the balance of bacteria: 70 percent of your body’s immune system cells are in the digestive tract, so intestinal bacteria have a continuous and dynamic effect on both your gut and your immune system. A variety of factors (including diet, stress, pollution, pesticides, and frequent antibiotic use) can cause the good bacteria to lose territory within the digestive system. The bacteria in probiotics stimulate the gut to produce antibodies that protect against bad bacteria. As a result, probiotics help the immune system recognize and fight harmful bacteria.

You will have to surrender and surrender over and over again throughout your life. Especially if you feel tempted to relapse. We surrender by saying, “I am ready to let you go now. This thing I'm doing is causing me problems. When I let you go I will be liberated and I will feel happy.” (Note: That language is my own; you can come up with another phrase that better suits you if you wish, as long as you are sincerely expressing the same thought and intent.)

Primary Addictions

Processed sugar is extremely addictive. This type of sugar is different from the sugar that is naturally found in fruits and starchy vegetables. Natural sugar is not concentrated, and it relates to your chemistry in a way that makes your body feel satisfied. You may crave fruit, but the craving will not be overwhelming. The craving for processed sugar can be extremely overwhelming, though.

When it is in a concentrated form, protein is addictive as well. The body needs protein, but not a great deal of it. In flesh foods, protein is concentrated to a degree that is beyond what is needed by the body. For that reason, plant foods are a preferable source of protein.

Raw Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

The secret behind making a great smoothie or smoothie bowl is mastering the techniques and understanding of temperature, taste, and texture.

Smoothies and bowls are so exciting because they are super cold. If you freeze your organic fruits, your smoothie or bowl will taste better.

You need a good blender to make good smoothies. Vitamix is my preferred blender for home and commercial use. The more horsepower the blender motor has, the more frozen your fruit can be.

If your smoothie is solid and won't blend, add more of your liquid base: raw organic almond milk, oat milk, or sacred hemp milk.

Bio Hack B.S.

Being well is also a mental process; you can’t just fix your physical body and leave your mental health unchecked; the two entities are inextricably connected. The body and the mind interact in ways that not even science can understand yet.

So another biohacking process I can highly recommend is the understanding that you must set your mind on improving both your mental and physical health. You must make doing that a daily practice. Laziness and fear will be impediments to your progress in doing so, so you must put them aside. To ensure that you will progress in improving mental and physical health, seek out a coach and one or more good mentors.

Four EZ Juice Formulas for The Beginner

The benefits of each juice formula are far and wide. Each type of produce has unique compounds and nutrients that benefit a wide range of processes in the human body. What each juice formula has in common is that they contain a lot of naturally occuring clean drinking water. There are vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, flavonoids, phytochemicals, and much more in every juice. Additionally, there are macro nutrients that vary depending on the produce used. Macronutrients are the nutrients you need a lot of and your body does not produce on its own — carbohydrates, protein and fat.

Yes, celery juice is an amazing elixir, and it’s a gift from the earth! But what we also need to remember is that there are about 20,000 other edible plants out there — Juice bars will be announcing each new type for the next 800 years. When juice bars or health gurus announce the next craze, they might also be making claims that are not on target. Most claims cannot deliver on the miracle promised. This can be the case with celery, CBD, or any one of a multitude of other products. Buyer beware!

Food, Diet, Meditation

Many ancient people understood the nature of reality as being spiritual by definition. Regarding every activity in life as being a spiritual practice, they did not see a need to define things as being either ‘spiritual’ or ‘unspiritual,’ as many do today.

Yet getting rid of the dichotomy between ‘spiritual’ and ‘unspiritual’ doesn’t mean that there’s no such thing as good and evil. Harming others is antithetical to life. I make a judgment about that, as do all people who recognize bad behavior and harmful practices. But I do intend to judge less and judge correctly as I go through life, and I want to use judgment only as a method of understanding the world around me more clearly.

We want  an effective fighter' that will repopulate the friendly bacteria colonies while seeking out and destroying pathogens).

What are Processed Foods?

In a completely literal sense, processed food in its simplest form begins with food that you are chewing in your mouth. You are processing it, technically – by masticating it, you’re changing it from one form to another.

Next is a short list of some of the most dangerous processed foods that are now on the market:

  • Sodas: In addition to having no nutritional value and having an outrageous amount of sugar, they use high-fructose corn syrup, which is damaging to the liver. Many diet sodas contain carcinogenic sweeteners that perpetuate cravings for real sugar as well.
  • White bread: Contains a great deal of processed sugar for added flavor, is stripped of all nutritional value, and uses chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide that can cause headaches, nausea, and DNA damage.
  • Hot Dogs and Processed Meats: These have sodium nitrate and other dangerous compounds in them and are linked to stomach and bowel cancers as well as high blood pressure and heart disease.
  • Cookies and Cakes: Most of these products can contain up to 80 ingredients, most of which are harmful additives such as preservatives and artificial coloring. Most also contain partially hydrogenated oils with trans fats, which are associated with diabetes, coronary heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.
  • Quick Noodle Soups: One package can contain up to 2,000 milligrams of sodium, greatly exceeding the American Heart Association’s recommended daily limit of 1,500 milligrams per day. This puts frequent users at risk of high blood pressure or a stroke
  • Microwave Popcorn: One serving can contain 270 milligrams of sodium and 8 grams of fat; the American Heart Association recommends a maximum of 11 to 13 grams of saturated fat per day. The microwaveable bags contain chemicals such as perfluoroalkyls, linked to poor semen quality and impaired kidney function.
  • Frozen Dinners: They have outrageously high contents of sugar, fat, and sodium, which can raise blood pressure and lead to heart and weight problems. The most popular of these products contain between 1,100 to 1,300 milligrams of sodium.
  • Fast Food Iced Tea: It contains propylene glycol alginate, which is also used in de-icer and antifreeze automotive products. It can cause neurotoxic and cardiovascular problems.
  • Candy: Besides excess processed sugar, candy contains many very toxic and carcinogenic chemicals used for artificial coloring and other purposes; they include Yellow Number 5 and Yellow Number 6, linked to Attention Deficit Disorder in children.
  • Sugary Cereal: In addition to incredibly high sugar content, it contains chemicals such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and that are believed to be carcinogenic. (Those ingredients are banned in many European countries.)
  • Energy Drinks: They contain excessive amounts of sucrose, glucose, and caffeine, as well as toxic artificial sweeteners. One study found that they are more corrosive to teeth than sodas.
  • Ice Cream: Most varieties contain artificial coloring, soybean oil, and titanium dioxide (a chemical used in sunblock), as well as a tremendous amount of sugar.
  • Breakfast Biscuits: These are very high in trans fats that can cause heart disease. Some products that are labeled as having 0 grams of trans fats contain hydrogenated soybean oil, meaning that traces of fat actually are in the products.
  • Macaroni and Cheese: It contains Yellow Number 5 and Yellow Number 6 and coal tar (which is used to seal floors and kill bugs in shampoo). Those additives can cause ADHD and allergies, and they are suspected to be linked to cancer as well.
  • Margarine: Although it’s considered by some to be a better choice than butter, it contains trans fats that lowers good cholesterol levels and is linked to heart disease. It is high in omega-6 fatty acids that cause a chemical imbalance between omega-3 and omega-6 acids, potentially causing bodily inflammation. Dangerous chemicals are used in its production as well.
  • Bacon: This is probably the worst of the processed meats available. It tastes delicious primarily because it’s extremely high in saturated fats (that cause obesity and heart disease). The preservatives that are used, including nitrates, are considered to be carcinogenic.
  • Instant Ramen: Although it’s a popular product among those on tight budgets, it’s incredibly unhealthy and has almost no nutritional value. A typical portion of it has about 1,500 milligrams of sodium and 14 grams of fat, and it also contains additives such as MSG (monosodium glutamate).
  • Coffee Creamer: It’s loaded with trans fats and the chemical whitening product called titanium dioxide, which may cause liver and tissue damage. The trans fats in the hydrogenated oil used can cause diminished memory in adults.
  • Baked Goods: These use potassium bromide, also known as bromated flour, to speed up cooking processes. It’s found in wraps, bagel chips, and commercial bread crumbs. The dangerous chemical used is believed to cause cell deterioration and kidney failure and has been banned in Canada and Europe.
  • Jam and Jelly: Besides being loaded with sugar, they contain high quantities of pectin. Pectin is toxic because it attaches to good, healthy antioxidants including lycopene, beta-carotene and others, causing them to be eliminated from your system before they can provide health benefits to your body.
  • Chewing Gum: Although it’s not a food as such, It contains butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) which is released into your body when you chew the product. BHA has been linked to impairment of blood clotting and to tumor growth as well. BHA has been banned from use in food products in many European countries and Japan.

Low Count of Good Bacteria Linked to Dozens of Diseases

What is not as well known is that negative emotional and psychological effects occur in the body as a result of pathogenic overgrowth and the proper healthy balance of good bacteria.

It’s hard for many people to grasp that important lifestyle changes will improve their personal health. It’s even harder for most people to implement those changes. I had a mother who carried me in her stomach for 10 months and I had a father who bought me my first sports car when I was 16. But those things are of no value regarding pursuit of higher journeys. It takes time to mentally prepare yourself to move to the higher journeys that you can be taking while you’re in your physical body. (I have no idea what happens after time spent in the physical body—perhaps nothing. I don’t spend my time thinking about that.)

Get Out of Diet Fads and Into Real Solutions

Certain behaviors stop serving us at certain points in our lives; we have to recognize this and then we have to create processes for letting such detrimental behaviors go. This is not easy, and we avoid doing it - we prefer quick fix, simple solutions. Many who create fad diets recognize this, and this is why fad diets are popular and profitable for their creators.

Please understand that I’m not trying to sell a particular diet. I just have a strong desire to share many truths I’ve learned about healthy dietary practices – things I’ve successfully applied to my own life and things that have been of tremendous benefit to many others.

The first step to a healthy dietary lifestyle destination is ‘soul searching.’ We have to recognize unhealthy dietary practices and patterns. We have to realize that they are disrupting our body chemistry and might be leading us toward disorders or diseases.

The Real Oat Milk - No Chemicals and No Pasteurization

Should we call it oat milk or oat water? Oat water sounds disgusting. Milk is also a misnomer because it is non-dairy. It could be called 'Oat Milky' and then we can make everyone happy! Kids love oat milk and so do grownups. The problem with store bought oat milk is that manufacturers are adding processed ingredients to make the milks more compatible for steaming for coffee drinks. These ingredients are highly processed extractions from plants, or they can be synthetically made, so I avoid store bought oat milk.

The Big Breakthrough With Meditation

The biggest breakthrough I had regarding understanding meditation came when I had the revelation that meditation was not a spiritual practice - rather it was a mental practice. As a spiritual practice it always seemed abstract and very exclusive. No matter how much I would pretend to the world that I was spiritual, I had no idea what that concept meant. Slowly I began to have a breakthrough when I realized that the word ‘spiritual’ had no meaning to me other than in reference to ghosts and apparitions.

Meditation is Easy

Meditation is a fancy word for the act of controlling where the consciousness is flowing. It isn’t a means to close in on a problem that you’d like to solve and working it out in your mind. If you’re doing that, you’re in contemplation. In fact, you may be in an obsessive thought, which is not meditation. Meditation isn’t going on a space journey where you allow yourself to wander throughout the cosmos and wonder about the existence of God. This is a contemplative state of mind, which is not the true focus and meaning of meditation.

Review Article of Digestive Immunity Probiotic - Lactobacillus plantarum GLB18

The market for fermented food and ingredients has been growing in recent years and is expected to grow from $636.89 billion in the year 2016 to $888.76 by 2023. The fermented food is induced by consumer demand for food products that are virginal, healthy, fresh-like, minimally processed, and nutritious [54]. To preserve the essence/attribute of the particular fermented food products, techniques are needed to retain organoleptic properties and to promise an accept- able shelf-life. Hitherto, fermented dairy product (e.g., yogurt) has been designed both as a potential source of beneficial (probiotic) strains and as a standard form/matrix for offering such functional strains. Nevertheless, part of the mainstream now shifted to a field of non dairy fermented vegetables and fruits of Asia and fermented plant raw material, in particular cereal, of Europe and Africa as an ecosystem of potentially beneficial strains.

The pH Tolerance of Probiotic Strain Digestive Immunity Probiotic GLB18

The probiotic bacteria, being consumed with the proper amount of food, get into the stomach and go through the different parts of gastrointestinal tract (GIT). They remain in the digestive system for a while, being exposed to very unfavorable conditions. The main criteria for selection of a probiotic strain is its ability to survive in the gastric transit and to provide (temporarily – for the transiting species and constantly for the colonizing species) benefits for the consumer. Therefore, in the last years the index for transit tolerance presenting the vitality of the strain in GIT plays main role in the in vitro selection procedures of potential probiotic strains. According to this research, the probiotic strain has been subjected to in vitro assay for assessment of the survival rate and activity into the GIT.

Can You Take too many Supplements?

The type of supplements a person takes when they’re attempting to address specific problems (e.g., hair loss or stress) will to some extent be based on science. But specifics about the scientific findings can sometimes be abstract. The wisest first step for improving health problems is to consider bad dietary practices and address those poor choices. Eliminating harmful dietary practices gets to the root of dietary-related health problems. Somewhat contrary to popular belief, what you leave out of your diet is of paramount importance – as much so as what you leave in your diet.

How Our Digestive Immunity Probiotic Works

Other probiotics boast about very high CFU counts. If you looked at the cells of other probiotics under magnification, you would see them as very tiny compared to our Digestive Immunity Probiotic (GLB18). So, you can boast of large numbers of tiny weakling strains or you can go for the big strong strains that win the fights. GLB18 recognizes pathogens in the digestive system: GLB18’s ‘good guys’ release chemical compounds that seek and destroy only the pathogens and leave the other friendlies alone. We have determined this to be the case through extensive lab testing. Digestive Immunity Probiotic (GLB18) is an extremely effective product.

Fred Bisci my Food Mentor

It’s my strong belief that the medical industry fails people by providing insufficient or misleading information regarding lifestyle and nutrition. Even organizations focused on producing or selling nutrition products often people tell people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear. Even the so-called ‘food pyramid model’ is based more on ancient tradition than on science.

Protein: A Confusing Macronutrient to Understand

A blind pursuit of protein is a BIG mistake in many diets. Protein is a lousy source of fuel because it doesn’t convert easily into glucose, and glucose is the only source of fuel your brain can use. Your body can utilize only so much protein, and the leftovers are stored as toxins or eliminated as waste. You don’t need to consume flesh, eggs, or dairy every day to obtain protein. This is a myth. If you consume enough calories from a varied diet consisting mostly of vegetation, you’re probably getting enough protein.

Getting on track and staying on track with food was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my life, but it’s been overwhelmingly satisfying and well worth the effort.

Zinc Hype

Your body definitely needs zinc. In optimal circumstances, you would get every nutrient that you need from food. Your body needs a wide range of nutrients, in the very old days when you were deficient, there was a village shaman to give you herbs and elixirs. If you believed in the shaman's wisdom, it didn’t even matter if there wasn’t actual efficacy because you believed that it worked. It could actually have an enormous positive impact on your chemistry.

Concepts on Nutrition (Early Excerpts from my Book on Nutrition)

Now, there are other things that we can also slowly change in our eating patterns that will definitely yield vast improvements in our overall health. Universally.

  1. Stop overeating.

"Cytokine Storm" (Inflammation Response)

At the time of this writing (Sept. 12, 2020), worldwide COVID-19 cases have been reported to be over 29+ million with 929+ thousand deaths.  These are incredibly high numbers compared to the more common influenza virus.

Many believe that "cytokine storm" is one of the main causes of fatal outcomes from the disease. The cytokine storm is a significant increase in inflammatory molecules in the course of the body's immune response upon encountering a virus.

Postcards by Marcus Antebi for Juice Press

In order to help educate the consumer and the staff about nutrition concepts, I had to come up with bite-sized printed pieces that people could take with them. I made the first Juice Press postcard at a Fedex/Kinkos while I was working on the menu art file, to take a break from the tedium of building a menu file.

Get Out Of The Pharmacy Junk Food Cycle

Big Pharmacy and the processed food industry have had an unspoken alliance with each other for over a century. The foods make people sick and the medicines try to fix them, just enough to keep them eating more junk food. Get off of this corrupt and morbid ride.
Isn't it funny how pharmacies sell everything that you need for sickness on one floor and everything you need to make yourself sick on the other floor?

[T Magazine Article] Spring Cleaning

When I arrived at the Juice Press the first time, it was crammed with lithe young things (the model Erin Wasson swears by the maca tonic) buying concoctions like Drink Your Salad and Ginger Fireball. Immediately I felt pasty, pudgy and distinctly unhealthy. Antebi, an intense 42-year-old with a shaved head and myriad tattoos, introduced himself and gave me a quick once-over. Something about him made me want to fess up all of my sins, at least the ones that involve eating and drinking. Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, “Hi, my name is Sandra, and I’m a meat-wine-cheese-choco-holic.” He didn’t even smile. He simply said, “I’m going to change your life.”

After a few minutes of chatting with Juice Press founder Marcus Antebi, your head might explode. That's because the man happens to know a little bit about everything, and if you pepper him with a few questions, he’ll be off and running. Statistics regarding the total-body benefits of eating whole foods and scratching anything processed? He’s got ‘em. What really happens when we drink five cups of coffee? He knows. His stance on the benefits of veganism? Sit down, this one’s going to take a minute.

[WSJ Article] Can Some Probiotics Have an Antibiotic Effect?

The ability of some bacteria to kill other bacteria isn’t new—foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut and pickled cucumbers are preserved thanks to a type of bacteria that produces lactic acid, which is lethal to harmful bacteria, says Maria L. Marco, associate professor in the Department of Food Science & Technology at the University of California, Davis.

My Passion Has Always Been Exercising Consistently: My Athletic Journey

Evidence points to the benefit of a lifestyle that includes intense exercise at least 3 or 4 days a week. This is subjective and proportionate to individual abilities, but as long as we’re trying hard every day, that’s what I mean by intense! Work hard and challenge your body. Create great routines and habits. These habits will carry us through in hard times. There is evidence that working out and physically exerting ourselves everyday will reduce the risk of many degenerative diseases.
