A short list of some of the most dangerous processed foods that are now on the market:
- Sodas: In addition to having no nutritional value and having an outrageous amount of sugar, they use high-fructose corn syrup, which is damaging to the liver. Many diet sodas contain carcinogenic sweeteners that perpetuate cravings for real sugar as well.
- White bread: Contains a great deal of processed sugar for added flavor, is stripped of all nutritional value, and uses chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide that can cause headaches, nausea, and DNA damage.
- Hot Dogs and Processed Meats: These have sodium nitrate and other dangerous compounds in them and are linked to stomach and bowel cancers as well as high blood pressure and heart disease.
- Cookies and Cakes: Most of these products can contain up to 80 ingredients, most of which are harmful additives such as preservatives and artificial coloring. Most also contain partially hydrogenated oils with trans fats, which are associated with diabetes, coronary heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.
- Quick Noodle Soups: One package can contain up to 2,000 milligrams of sodium, greatly exceeding the American Heart Association’s recommended daily limit of 1,500 milligrams per day. This puts frequent users at risk of high blood pressure or a stroke
- Microwave Popcorn: One serving can contain 270 milligrams of sodium and 8 grams of fat; the American Heart Association recommends a maximum of 11 to 13 grams of saturated fat per day. The microwaveable bags contain chemicals such as perfluoroalkyls, linked to poor semen quality and impaired kidney function.
- Frozen Dinners: They have outrageously high contents of sugar, fat, and sodium, which can raise blood pressure and lead to heart and weight problems. The most popular of these products contain between 1,100 to 1,300 milligrams of sodium.
- Fast Food Iced Tea: It contains propylene glycol alginate, which is also used in de-icer and antifreeze automotive products. It can cause neurotoxic and cardiovascular problems.
- Candy: Besides excess processed sugar, candy contains many very toxic and carcinogenic chemicals used for artificial coloring and other purposes; they include Yellow Number 5 and Yellow Number 6, linked to Attention Deficit Disorder in children.
- Sugary Cereal: In addition to incredibly high sugar content, it contains chemicals such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and that are believed to be carcinogenic. (Those ingredients are banned in many European countries.)
- Energy Drinks: They contain excessive amounts of sucrose, glucose, and caffeine, as well as toxic artificial sweeteners. One study found that they are more corrosive to teeth than sodas.
- Ice Cream: Most varieties contain artificial coloring, soybean oil, and titanium dioxide (a chemical used in sunblock), as well as a tremendous amount of sugar.
- Breakfast Biscuits: These are very high in trans fats that can cause heart disease. Some products that are labeled as having 0 grams of trans fats contain hydrogenated soybean oil, meaning that traces of fat actually are in the products.
- Macaroni and Cheese: It contains Yellow Number 5 and Yellow Number 6 and coal tar (which is used to seal floors and kill bugs in shampoo). Those additives can cause ADHD and allergies, and they are suspected to be linked to cancer as well.
- Margarine: Although it’s considered by some to be a better choice than butter, it contains trans fats that lowers good cholesterol levels and is linked to heart disease. It is high in omega-6 fatty acids that cause a chemical imbalance between omega-3 and omega-6 acids, potentially causing bodily inflammation. Dangerous chemicals are used in its production as well.
- Bacon: This is probably the worst of the processed meats available. It tastes delicious primarily because it’s extremely high in saturated fats (that cause obesity and heart disease). The preservatives that are used, including nitrates, are considered to be carcinogenic.
- Instant Ramen: Although it’s a popular product among those on tight budgets, it’s incredibly unhealthy and has almost no nutritional value. A typical portion of it has about 1,500 milligrams of sodium and 14 grams of fat, and it also contains additives such as MSG (monosodium glutamate).
- Coffee Creamer: It’s loaded with trans fats and the chemical whitening product called titanium dioxide, which may cause liver and tissue damage. The trans fats in the hydrogenated oil used can cause diminished memory in adults.
- Baked Goods: These use potassium bromide, also known as bromated flour, to speed up cooking processes. It’s found in wraps, bagel chips, and commercial bread crumbs. The dangerous chemical used is believed to cause cell deterioration and kidney failure and has been banned in Canada and Europe.
- Jam and Jelly: Besides being loaded with sugar, they contain high quantities of pectin. Pectin is toxic because it attaches to good, healthy antioxidants including lycopene, beta-carotene and others, causing them to be eliminated from your system before they can provide health benefits to your body.
- Chewing Gum: Although it’s not a food as such, It contains butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) which is released into your body when you chew the product. BHA has been linked to impairment of blood clotting and to tumor growth as well. BHA has been banned from use in food products in many European countries and Japan.
Hey friends, please think about the problems the things that are listed here cause. Processed and refined sugar are problematic. And it’s prevalent in cakes, candies, cookies, muffins, sodas, ice cream, energy drinks, sports drinks, and condiments such as ketchup and relish. Although no one should judge you or what you do with food, you can judge yourself in the context of your desire to improve.
It’s very important that you understand that I do not believe in prescribing a particular diet. There’s no such thing as a “one size fits all” diet; there are a lot of considerations. The general rule is that you probably can afford to eat somewhere between 1820 and 2500 calories per day depending on your activity level, your age, your size, and what particular food items are in your diet. A person who is eating a plant-based diet could probably consume more calories than a person on a high-protein diet. A person who abstained from processed foods could also probably eat more calories.
So what is the ideal diet for humans? Should we be eating bananas all day like our ape cousins do? Should we be ravenous meat eaters like the big cats? Or are we designed to graze like cattle? None of the above.
We are actually similar to pigs, bears, and piranhas. We are omnivores. However, we have longer digestive transit times than most other animals. That’s why flesh foods are not ideal for us: Flesh foods easily ferment or rot in our digestive system because they stay there too long.
A very important aspect of your own weight loss is your living a life of compassion. Compassion, love and other such qualities that are good enrich your chemistry in a way that very few substances can match. When your heart is filled with compassion, that means that your mind is pure. In order to fill your heart with compassion, your mind has to become more conscious and more awake. Compassion sets us free from our own suffering.
A blind pursuit of protein is a BIG mistake in many diets. Protein is a lousy source of fuel because it doesn’t convert easily into glucose, and glucose is the only source of fuel your brain can use. Your body can utilize only so much protein, and the leftovers are stored as toxins or eliminated as waste. You don’t need to consume flesh, eggs, or dairy every day to obtain protein. This is a myth. If you consume enough calories from a varied diet consisting mostly of vegetation, you’re probably getting enough protein.
Juice in its natural raw form will never harm you. In fact, the more of it that you drink while you stay on a routine, the more you might find your cravings for processed food or high amounts of protein to be reduced.
Coffee has two types of effects—its physical effects and its effects on the personality. Some of us really feel that we desperately need the edge it gives us. But we’re drinking it excessively, not being mindful when we drink it, and we’re in denial about the negative effect that it has on our body chemistry.
I am supportive of whatever you feel you need to do to get your calories. My job is to just tell you the facts about food as I understand them.
Some people declare themselves to be meat eaters but are cautious regarding their dietary choices. I know a lot of people who think that they’re minimizing their health risks by taking measures such as eating only fish rather than red meat. Some detail about that is warranted, and I intend to address it in other articles, but this short article is only regarding processed meat products.
Certain behaviors stop serving us at certain points in our lives; we have to recognize this and then we have to create processes for letting such detrimental behaviors go. This is not easy, and we avoid doing it - we prefer quick fix, simple solutions. Many who create fad diets recognize this, and this is why fad diets are popular and profitable for their creators.
Please understand that I’m not trying to sell a particular diet. I just have a strong desire to share many truths I’ve learned about healthy dietary practices – things I’ve successfully applied to my own life and things that have been of tremendous benefit to many others.
The first step to a healthy dietary lifestyle destination is ‘soul searching.’ We have to recognize unhealthy dietary practices and patterns. We have to realize that they are disrupting our body chemistry and might be leading us toward disorders or diseases.
Being well is also a mental process; you can’t just fix your physical body and leave your mental health unchecked; the two entities are inextricably connected. The body and the mind interact in ways that not even science can understand yet.
So another biohacking process I can highly recommend is the understanding that you must set your mind on improving both your mental and physical health. You must make doing that a daily practice. Laziness and fear will be impediments to your progress in doing so, so you must put them aside. To ensure that you will progress in improving mental and physical health, seek out a coach and one or more good mentors.
The ketogenic diet is not a positive step to good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. It is completely unsustainable for a number of reasons.
For one thing, in both the short- and long-term it could have a negative effect on your overall body chemistry. By following it, you’re creating routines and habits that entail eating much more protein than what is healthy for an adult’s chemistry. It will be very hard to break such habits.
This bears repeating: If a person with any of hundreds of degenerative diseases used the Bulletproof products regularly, this person would suffer. It doesn’t give me pleasure to make such statements, but it’s my right to do so. And it’s my intent to promote practices that lead to good health and to speak out against practices that don’t.
Stimulating energy without nutrition taxes the body and ages you faster. It’s a mistake to become hyper-focused on weight loss alone. Removing all processed food, pasta, cereal, bread, soda, candy, and white sugar will induce sustainable weight loss and make the body more efficient. In the end, you’ll need fewer calories to support higher levels of activity.
Fruits and vegetables must be ripe for the body to digest them properly. pasteurization of juice and food is a disaster—it alters their nutritional value and vital forces. chewing, blending, or lightly steaming fruits and vegetables releases the nutrients within the encapsulated insoluble fibers. Wow,
I sound smart.
Produce is rushed to harvest. non-organic farming practices that use a litany of chemicals are changing our chemistry. Combined with a number of dietary mistakes we generally make, we are likely to be nutrient deficient.
#3. Eliminate all processed foods from your diet. Whether you do so gradually at your own pace or go “cold turkey” and do it within a day or so is your decision. Getting the toxic food components and additives out of your system will yield health benefits very quickly.
#14. Apologize often. Almost every day of our lives we have an opportunity to express an apology to someone. It’s an act that shows strength of character and courage on our part and gives us a good reason to respect ourselves.
I recommend that people start their practices of meditation with the intent of getting a better grasp on their diets and their eating habits. Having peaceful, relaxing meal times should become a high priority as you progress on your journey to a healthier lifestyle.
What is not as well known is that negative emotional and psychological effects occur in the body as a result of pathogenic overgrowth and the proper healthy balance of good bacteria.
It’s hard for many people to grasp that important lifestyle changes will improve their personal health. It’s even harder for most people to implement those changes. In fact, this is hard for all of us. What makes matters worse is that we are bombarded with conflicting information about these issues coming in from many sources.
The probiotic bacteria, being consumed with the proper amount of food, get into the stomach and go through the different parts of gastrointestinal tract (GIT). They remain in the digestive system for a while, being exposed to very unfavorable conditions. The main criteria for selection of a probiotic strain is its ability to survive in the gastric transit and to provide (temporarily – for the transiting species and constantly for the colonizing species) benefits for the consumer. Therefore, in the last years the index for transit tolerance presenting the vitality of the strain in GIT plays main role in the in vitro selection procedures of potential probiotic strains. According to this research, the probiotic strain has been subjected to in vitro assay for assessment of the survival rate and activity into the GIT.
All these in vitro immunological results demonstrate the strong anti-inflammatory potential of the Lung Immunity Support Probiotic. This, together with the results of clinical studies of the complex of polypeptides and lipopolysaccharides, which has been proven by Acad.
At the time of this writing (Sept. 12, 2020), worldwide COVID-19 cases have been reported to be over 29+ million with 929+ thousand deaths. These are incredibly high numbers compared to the more common influenza virus.
Many believe that "cytokine storm" is one of the main causes of fatal outcomes from the disease. The cytokine storm is a significant increase in inflammatory molecules in the course of the body's immune response upon encountering a virus.
We’ve been raised to believe that bacteria are inherently a bad thing, but that is misinformation. Our planet is made up of both good and bad bacteria types. And as a living organism, you have an immune system, and it acts as a defense designed to keep out or subdue hostile invaders. It’s a battle—one that rages on from the moment you enter your mother’s womb until you take your last breath.
I check in with my body and I think about what I feel right now. Sometimes what I feel right now is a lot of worry. So then I ask myself what’s worrying me, and then I think of what it is. Sometimes the thing that’s worrying me isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes I’m just excited about the next thing that’s going to happen. It may be that I have a meeting at 12 noon and I’m really excited about the discussion.
Many may perceive the development that I’m referring to as spiritual development, but I don’t really believe that the word “spiritual” is fitting. Everything that we do is towards spiritual development in some way. So at least to me it goes without saying that people who want to become conscious and wake up their minds need to work through and heal certain wounds.
A student came to a great master one day and asked, “Master, how many hours a day should I meditate?” And the master said, “How badly do you want to be happy?” The next day, the student came back to the master and said, “Master, I hear that this thing called enlightenment is a myth. I heard that searching for it could lead to the attachment of the search. Am I supposed to believe that enlightenment is real? And if it’s real, is it just going to come on its own just from me being a good person?” The master said, “Student, when you really concentrate on the wrong thing, you lose sight of the fact that we are here in the material body.”
Consciousness may sometimes expand very very slowly. But make no mistake, the purpose of life is to become awake and enlightened. You can do this with acts of kindness, you can do this with practices of meditation, and you can do this by becoming aware of nonviolence.
I realized for myself that I had to decide what I believed in. I would stop totally relying on books, teachers, and lectures, and I would start searching within. Among things that really stuck with me were certain Buddhist teachings. The Buddha taught that enlightenment was an attainable thing if conditions were met and circumstances were right.
From a philosophical perspective, the mysterious thing about the ego is that it really isn’t a form, or a shape, or an energy. It’s the sum total of all of your traits, something like a photo album; it’s a record of your journey.
The ingredients that go into making up the ego include energy fields and electrical circuitry. The important thing to understand about the ego is not so much what its purpose is or why it forms in the first place. It forms because of all the experiences that we have in this body and the fact that we have consciousness. These are the two main catalysts of the ego: Experiences and consciousness.
Be very careful with the word “addiction.” It’s a title, but it can also be a trap. It can be used to describe a problem, but it could also create one.
I prefer the word “dependency,” because it’s less scary. Just the sound of the word “addiction” sounds so negative and offensive that it takes positive energy away from solving the problem.
Some with substance abuse problems may feel as if they’re without hope when they think of themselves as addicts rather than as people with dependencies that they have the power to break.
in order to actually develop a meditation practice you might have to trick yourself sometimes. We can become so distracted and so unwilling to practice meditation for a variety of reasons that we have to make it into a game. We have to make sure that we have a prize for meditating, such as relaxation and/or a clear understanding of truth.
If we teach each other to find meditation, we can lessen some of the suffering in the world.
There are cycles of suffering. In my meditations I sometimes think of suffering in the physical world. Considering the possibilities of random things and chaos, it may always be difficult for some creatures. Those creatures will push suffering on to other things. Maybe this world can be classified as the realm of pain and suffering (for some).
Are we chasing material possessions because we really think that we need them? Probably yes, at least in the moment. Are we chasing bad chemistry in our bodies and trying to make it feel better? Sometimes. Are we chasing cravings that need to be answered? Oftentimes.
Deep deep inside, aren’t we all just chasing the connection to a feeling of wholeness? That feeling was lost when the umbilical cord was cut. And the memory is there. Each and every day that followed, we either kept the connection going or we looked for a distraction.
An introductory meditation practice starts bright and early in the morning: Right when you wake up, even before you open your eyes and possibly get distracted by something.
Lay flat on your back in bed with your eyes closed and begin conscious deep breathing. Try to get through five cycles without being distracted, drawing in the maximum breath and exhaling everything. Focus your attention to the center of your forehead. Imagine a bright light being right there if you can’t see this light
The other way to wake up your mind is to meditate, concentrate, and focus on the idea that everything in the material universe is constantly changing. Everything in the material world that is born must die, and everything that is created must come to an end. Focus on that until you see the light.
What makes a person more prepared and ready to practice a faith along these lines with devotion in order to see divine light? The first thing is having to clear away all the wreckage and the problems that prevent you from getting to the state that you are seeking.
Unless you have an immune disease, the strength of your immune system is in your hands and not just in your genes. You have to work at it. You have to make your internal biological terrain right. It all starts with your mindset and the thoughts that you keep. Your overall outlook on life has an enormous impact on your chemistry; this cannot be downplayed.
Your diet is absolutely crucial to the success of the high performance machine that is your body. This should be obvious to the entire world, but for some reason it's not. Or perhaps it is obvious, but we struggle to balance our cravings and our desire to feel and be healthy.
The discipline of taking care of the tedious tasks of life can be applied to all other aspects of life—this is the nature of self-improvement. I define self-improvement as taking on the difficult tasks that we need to manage by ourselves for ourselves every day of our life until they become habits.
Self-improvement is also a measurement of personal success. Personal success has nothing to do with things such as how much money you’ve acquired, how many books you’ve published, and the like. Personal success is measured by how well a person can improve themselves and address their own specific challenges.
I love exercise—it keeps me alive and makes me happy!
Exercise is crucial for both mental and physical health, including weight loss.
A body in motion stays in motion. That's applicable to planetary objects and to the human body as well. If you keep yourself moving with the right amount of exercise, combined with the right amount of rest and a wholesome diet, you will do very well.
There are three components to a Yoga Asana (essentially a type of controlled posturing). First, it is to control the body. Then, breath can be controlled. From that point, thoughts going through a person’s head can be controlled in such a way that the person can arrive at a single-minded focus.
I can have a single-minded focus. I can direct my attention to the present moment. At that point, in that space, I am able to realize universal truths. Many, many people do this all the time—it’s not really that extraordinary. There are many universal truths that should be realized. They are truths that underlie the nature of reality. And there are a tremendous number of them. Even while we are going about life on a day-to-day basis, we discover universal truths all the time.
You will have to surrender and surrender over and over again throughout your life. Especially if you feel tempted to relapse. We surrender by saying, “I am ready to let you go now. This thing I'm doing is causing me problems. When I let you go I will be liberated and I will feel happy.” (Note: That language is my own; you can come up with another phrase that better suits you if you wish, as long as you are sincerely expressing the same thought and intent.)
Processed sugar is extremely addictive. This type of sugar is different from the sugar that is naturally found in fruits and starchy vegetables. Natural sugar is not concentrated, and it relates to your chemistry in a way that makes your body feel satisfied. You may crave fruit, but the craving will not be overwhelming. The craving for processed sugar can be extremely overwhelming, though.
When it is in a concentrated form, protein is addictive as well. The body needs protein, but not a great deal of it. In flesh foods, protein is concentrated to a degree that is beyond what is needed by the body. For that reason, plant foods are a preferable source of protein.
The secret behind making a great smoothie or smoothie bowl is mastering the techniques and understanding of temperature, taste, and texture.
Smoothies and bowls are so exciting because they are super cold. If you freeze your organic fruits, your smoothie or bowl will taste better.
You need a good blender to make good smoothies. Vitamix is my preferred blender for home and commercial use. The more horsepower the blender motor has, the more frozen your fruit can be.

Back in 2014, my father David Antebi had the only Juice Press franchise we created. My business partner and my father did not like each other. My dad sued Juice Press, incidentally suing me as well, and here's what I woke up to one day in the NY Post! Meanwhile, my dad and I remained close during this silliness. He had a point of view and so did Juice Press. We resolved it civilly.

The benefits of each juice formula are far and wide. Each type of produce has unique compounds and nutrients that benefit a wide range of processes in the human body. What each juice formula has in common is that they contain a lot of naturally occuring clean drinking water. There are vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, flavonoids, phytochemicals, and much more in every juice. Additionally, there are macro nutrients that vary depending on the produce used. Macronutrients are the nutrients you need a lot of and your body does not produce on its own — carbohydrates, protein and fat.
A student came to her master to ask about something that puzzled her.
She asked the master, “When I hear your great wisdom, I recognize its value. But then I have so much trouble trying to implement it in my life. Why is this so?”
The master looked at her and replied, “You are very young. You don’t yet have the experience or the coordination to pick up difficult tools and use them with skill.
“The first thing you must recognize is that they are tools. That will be a very good first step. Then, you have to memorize them and slowly let their medicines seep in.
Your next step should be to become a genius on the subject matter of what is ailing you. You must do a lot of intelligent research. You should shy away from internet nonsense that does not come from a reputable, credible writer. The source of the information – the person who wrote it – is as important, or even more so, than the information itself. How does that person validate the statements and claims?
I am sure you've already noticed — Hemp is a versatile plant. Hemp Milk is a great smoothie base, and will hold in the refrigerator for 3 days. Hemp seeds for this nutritious superfood beverage are easily obtained at health food markets and online.
Your homemade hemp milk that has not been pasteurized will taste about 9,000,400 times better than store-bought nut and seed milks. The store milks are have a flat dead taste to them because enzymes are 'denatured' during a preservation process.

The biggest breakthrough I had regarding understanding meditation came when I had the revelation that meditation was not a spiritual practice - rather it was a mental practice. As a spiritual practice it always seemed abstract and very exclusive. No matter how much I would pretend to the world that I was spiritual, I had no idea what that concept meant. Slowly I began to have a breakthrough when I realized that the word ‘spiritual’ had no meaning to me other than in reference to ghosts and apparitions.
Meditation is a fancy word for the act of controlling where the consciousness is flowing. It isn’t a means to close in on a problem that you’d like to solve and working it out in your mind. If you’re doing that, you’re in contemplation. In fact, you may be in an obsessive thought, which is not meditation. Meditation isn’t going on a space journey where you allow yourself to wander throughout the cosmos and wonder about the existence of God. This is a contemplative state of mind, which is not the true focus and meaning of meditation.

It’s my strong belief that the medical industry fails people by providing insufficient or misleading information regarding lifestyle and nutrition. Even organizations focused on producing or selling nutrition products often people tell people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear. Seldom do you hear of governmental agencies responsible for the health and well-being of US citizens tell us that eliminating processed food should be the very first thing we should do to improve our physical health. Even the so-called ‘food pyramid model’ is based more on ancient tradition than on science.
If you can gauge your state of mind right now, where is it sitting? If it feels neutral, you are likely ambivalent (having mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about something or someone). Ambivalence often slides into negativity, so beware.
The thinker in you, that is responsible for choices, needs a method to pump your state of mind back up the mental hill.
Like water, thoughts oftentimes seek the lowest ground, and it’s the thinkers role to lift them back to higher ground. How we do this is the LIFE PRACTICE.

In order to help educate the consumer and the staff about nutrition concepts, I had to come up with bite-sized printed pieces that people could take with them. I made the first Juice Press postcard at a Fedex/Kinkos while I was working on the menu art file, to take a break from the tedium of building a menu file.

When I arrived at the Juice Press the first time, it was crammed with lithe young things (the model Erin Wasson swears by the maca tonic) buying concoctions like Drink Your Salad and Ginger Fireball. Immediately I felt pasty, pudgy and distinctly unhealthy. Antebi, an intense 42-year-old with a shaved head and myriad tattoos, introduced himself and gave me a quick once-over. Something about him made me want to fess up all of my sins, at least the ones that involve eating and drinking. Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, “Hi, my name is Sandra, and I’m a meat-wine-cheese-choco-holic.” He didn’t even smile. He simply said, “I’m going to change your life.”
