The Purpose of Meditation

I noticed little things. I noticed that five out of 10 people probably don’t really like me. Those five out of 10 hate my face, my tattoos, or both. But I just have to be myself. One day a person who hates me will need me for something. I’ll be there and I will give them my support. And then they may change their point of view about me.

Meditation Exercise

You are in a field. You’re laying on a blanket. You can feel the cold air on your skin, but the sun is still warm enough to keep your body quite comfortable. First, you hear the faint sound of a single engine airplane. Then you listen carefully and can hear the sounds of all the leaves as the wind hits them. A 60-foot tree is particularly noisy. You ask yourself if it’s the wind blowing past the leaves that makes the noise, if it’s the leaves hitting each other gently, or if it’s a combination of both.

Meditation and Crying

What a beautiful life you live if you have the perspective that nothing can make you ungrateful, if nothing that you experience can make you not want to have a consciousness. In such a state, not any form of pain to the body could break your will to remain conscious and present. But you might become tearful and frightened.

The Entire Nature of Everything

Chain reactions of events that happen in society are such that individuals can’t resist temptation and can’t be undistracted. This is quite clear and we shouldn’t be in denial about the situation.

Candle Meditation

One might ask, “What is the point of being so deep and philosophical? Isn’t it better to just be here in the present and take action?” My answer to that is that taking action and sitting in stillness and contemplation have to be kept in balance. We don’t want to overthink, and we don’t want to act without thinking enough. It goes without saying that one of the blessings of being human is the ability to think deeply about things. The ability to contemplate is a beautiful thing.

What is The Purpose of Meditation?

Many may perceive the development that I’m referring to as spiritual development, but I don’t really believe that the word “spiritual” is fitting. Everything that we do is towards spiritual development in some way. So at least to me it goes without saying that people who want to become conscious and wake up their minds need to work through and heal certain wounds.

Breathing Exercise

What I especially like about using a breathing exercise in this way is that you don’t need any accessories; you can do it wherever you are at any time. It’s an exercise you can practice while you’re in an airplane getting ready to take off and you feel frightened. It’s an exercise you can work on when you have an argument with your spouse or your partner and need to regain your center. Or you can use this exercise as your entryway into your meditation practice.

Samādhi: How Dare I Try To Explain This!

The ultimate purpose of meditation is to realize, “I am here.” I view that as the ultimate reality. I am here. I am in this moment. I no longer fight with that truth. I recognize that is the only thing tangible in this moment. Everything else is a concept of philosophy, possibility, partial truths, nonsense, and fantasy.

Brief Example of The Benefits of Meditation

It’s only natural that when I grew up that I would just follow the same pattern. But now I can understand why I may feel compelled to spend money in ways that might not be in my best interests, and it makes it easier to fight an urge to spend recklessly.

Sequence Meditation

Then I was able to bring my concentration and focus to the sequence of a yoga practice. Forget about any of the four Indian cultures, forget about Sanskrit, forget about spiritual teachings. Those things are highly valuable and one day should be respected. They should be respected the way any great ancient teachings should be respected, especially the ones that help a person restore balance to the mind and body.
